Najib: Janji Pakatan tidak realistik

Oleh Lee Wei Lian
May 29, 2012

Kadir Sheikh Fadzir forms new party, could bolster opposition to BN in polls

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal May 29, 2012 KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir has left NGO Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (Amanah) to form a new political party which could bolster opposition towards Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election. The former Umno supreme council member will now head Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) after serving as Amanah’s deputy president for just over a year. Abdul Kadir
refused to divulge details of his new party, but said that “all will be revealed” this Thursday. “There will be an official launch and a press conference after that… I will answer queries then,” he told The Malaysian Insider when contacted. While the former Umno minister has not announced which coalition he supports, he has been openly critical against his one-time party, even accusing Umno of vote-buying. He claimed back in January that Umno handed out cash in previous election campaigns in attempts to buy votes, a tactic known as “bomb”, and that he had himself seen how cash handouts ranging from RM200 to RM1,000 were used in BN’s campaigns to gain voter support. The former tourism minister has previously said he has not ruled out joining Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and has been spotted attending and giving speeches at opposition rallies. He also took part in the April 28 Bersih rally in the capital city alongside PR leaders such as the DAP’s Lim Kit Siang and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. Abdul Kadir quit Umno early this year to focus on carrying the “original fight” of the party’s founding fathers for equality and democracy through Amanah. But his abrupt exit from the NGO, led by former Finance Minister Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, raises the question on the group’s future plans and direction. But Amanah central committee member Wan Saiful Wan Jan stressed that “all is well” and that Amanah was still very much intact despite Abdul Kadir’s departure. “He (Abdul Kadir) tendered in his resignation three or four weeks ago, all the members were notified. “We have agreed that Amanah will stay out of politics and remain as an NGO, but at the same time we won’t stop anyone from joining politics or forming a political party,” Wan Saiful told The Malaysian Insider. “We have chosen to go the civil society way,” he said. Invites for Ikatan’s official launch on Thursday have been sent out to media organisations. According to the invite, it will take place at the Palace of the Golden Horses here at 8.30am.

Bar Council to shun Hanif panel, backs Suhakam’s Bersih probe

Bar Council to shun Hanif panel, backs Suhakam’s Bersih probe By Clara Chooi May 29, 2012 KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — The Bar Council will not participate in Putrajaya’s “Hanif panel” investigation on violence during Bersih 3.0, saying today it was pointless to do so when the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) is already conducting its own probe. “We do not see the purpose to duplicate the process... we already said earlier that we would participate in Suhakam’s inquiry. There is no public purpose served by duplicating the enquiry process,” council vice-president Christopher Leong told The Malaysian Insider when contacted here. He said the council holds strong to its position that Tun Hanif Omar
should be disqualified from the post of the panel’s chairman as the latter had already previously indicated his anti-Bersih views. Leong stressed, however, that the council was not questioning Hanif’s integrity as it respects the former Inspector-General of Police’s contribution to the country. “It is unfortunately about the perception of independence and public confidence in the panel,” he said. Following the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28, Hanif had alleged that communist sympathisers had participated in the event and agreed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s claim that the demonstration was an attempt to oust the present government. Despite his views, Hanif was later appointed to lead Putrajaya’s six-man investigation panel on allegations of widespread police violence during the rally. Leong also pointed out that the panel, unlike Suhakam which is a statutory body established by law, does not have legal standing and power to subpoena witnesses for its probe. “Suhakam is the proper body to undertake the inquiry; it has the experience, statutory mandate and legal framework to do so. The Suhakam Act (Human Rights Commission of Malaysia Act 1999) provides for this,” he said in a short text message to The Malaysian Insider. Leong, however, added that the council would be willing to meet privately with Hanif to discuss its position on the matter. Hanif had said yesterday that he was willing to meet the Bar Council as well as Bersih leaders as part of the panel’s investigation, saying he wanted the inquiry team to be given a chance to carry out its duties without “suspicion” from any parties. “With regards to concerns that there may be several parties like the Bar Council and Bersih who are unco-operative, I would like to state that the panel is only an alternative channel for those who want to co-operate willingly. “I am prepared to meet the Bar Council or any other parties, including going to their office, for (everyone’s) mutual benefit,” Hanif had said in a statement.

On My way back to KL

Missed Kuala Lumpur so much. First time in my life, I missed KL. Never happen to me before. Now I'm at Miri airport waiting for my flight. I missed KL so much maybe because of the driving method here in Miri. Frankly speaking, I've had never met any driver that drove so slow in my entire life. Krokop road considered as Town road, and do you know how fast these people drove? 30km/hour and sometimes (almost all the times) is less than that. So you could imagine why I missed KL so much? Where all people are chasing time, tried to fulfill every times that had left, while here, they don't care less. They drove like everybody is like him/her who have time in the whole wide world to spend. %$&(*^@$*& these Mirinian. The worst driver I've had ever met.

By the way, I went again to Latak Waterfall yesterday. Still nice view and this time I'd tried swam in the pool. Sooooo cold, and sooooo deep. It's really makes me satisfied and I will try another waterfall, which I heard is much more bigger compared to Latak Waterfall.

The Return

Hi everyone...

I haven't wrote anything for almost two years. It is simply not because of busy schedule, but simply because of broken heart which makes me lost myself. But now, I've recovered and now I'm starting to build back my self esteem, my own life and most important, I'm building back the trust to girls that once lost because of betrayal.

My promised, "I'll keep update this blog from time to time from now on" and "I will make sure that all friends that I've lost will start to trust me for who I am"... Thank you to all of you who had supported me through out the difficulties.... Love all of you..
